Newgate Lodge Care Home celebrates 20 years of exceptional care with Vicky McClure's 'Our Dementia Choir'

Newgate Lodge Care Home celebrated providing exceptional care and support to the Mansfield community for the past two decades with a milestone event celebrated on Saturday 28th October.

A fun , family day was held at Newgate Lodge attracting more than 200 visitors including Councillor Callaghan, Mansfield Labour candidate Steve Yemm, trustees from Cruse Bereavement Support and many other organisations specialising in supporting those with dementia.

The event gave chance to reflect over the past two decades and discuss a future filled with continued love and care.

There were a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy, with younger guests enjoying face painting and arts and crafts and older guests enjoying a heart-warming performance by Vicky McClure's 'Our Dementia Choir’ signing along with classic songs such as Sweet Caroline and Stand by Me.

Director, Manjas Lidder expressed his deep appreciation for the Newgate Lodge family. Fourteen team members were presented with long service awards for providing over 15 years of dedicated care for residents and families alike.

He said, “we are immensely proud of our residents, our colleagues and the incredible community that has grown around our home. Over these past two decades, our care home has been a place of compassion, support and unwavering dedication as we have witnessed the journeys of our residents and their families, supported by our incredible team who have been a source of great comfort and care”.

Newgate Lodge, part of Lidder Care, also includes Lowmoor Nursing Home in Kirkby in Ashfield, specialising in providing dementia care for those with behaviours that may challenge. “We are very proud that Newgate Lodge has maintained our Good rating across all five key CQC domains, retained the NCC Band 5 and been awarded the Dementia Quality Mark for the past 10 years highlighting our ability to provide specialist dementia care”.

It is indeed an exciting time for Newgate Lodge which has recently completed a quarter of a million pound refurbishment as well as submitting plans to extend the care home from 60 to 84 beds. The extension includes new features such as adaptable and dementia friendly communal spaces, ground floor bistro, tranquil Japanese garden, new hairdressing salon and the creation of an increasingly enriching environment for residents and their families to enjoy.

Manjas Lidder also stated that “Newgate Lodge Care Home takes immense pride in its residents, colleagues, and the remarkable community that surrounds it. As the home embarks on the next chapter of its journey, we look forward to continuing to provide compassion, exceptional care and new adventures for all those who call Newgate Lodge their home”.
