Fast-acting officers caught suspects within five minutes after hearing two men had threatened a boy and tried to rob him of his bike.
The incident happened at Mansfield’s Four Seasons shopping centre shortly before 5pm on Thursday (11 January 2024).
After receiving information over their radios, including descriptions of the offenders, officers quickly responded and arrested two 19-year-old men on suspicion of attempted robbery. One of the suspects was additionally arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
The victim wasn’t hurt during the incident but was left feeling scared and anxious.
Inquiries remain ongoing into the incident.
Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was fast work by the officers concerned, quickly responding to reports of an attempted robbery, identifying two suspects, and detaining them.
“I want to reassure people that the force takes all reports of robbery seriously and we will continue to work hard to keep people safe and drive down violence in our communities as well as taking robust action against those believed to be involved in this sort of criminality.”
