A dealer has been jailed after he was caught running from police with a large bag containing drugs and cash.
Ethan Lewis, now aged 20, was at an address in Yew Tree Avenue,Mansfield, when officers were called to another incident on 27 February 2022.
After seeing the police, Lewis fled down an alleyway carrying the bag for life but was soon chased down and arrested.
The bag was found to contain cocaine, LSD and Bromazolam tablets, individual bags of cannabis and £130 in cash.
Messages were later recovered from his mobile phone providing further evidence of drug dealing.
Lewis initially claimed the drugs belonged to somebody else and that he’d made the money trading goods online.
He later pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, possessing a Class C drug with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, Lewis, of Forest Town, was jailed for two years and three months.
PC Hannah Ware, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Given what he was carrying it was no surprise that Lewis ran from the scene.
“Unfortunately for him he hadn’t reckoned on the speed of the pursuing officers and the strength of the evidence we were able to secure against him.
“I am pleased he has been held to account in this way and hope this serves as a warning to others who may be thinking of selling illegal drugs.”
