Ashfield Careers Fair a huge success

Over 700 job seekers and students attended Ashfield District Council’s 2023 Careers Fair which took place at the new Kirkby Leisure Centre on Friday 6 October.

The Careers Fair brought together representatives from over 70 local businesses who spoke to attendees about a range of career and training opportunities. Representatives on the day included Heroux Devtek UK LTD, Amazon Rolls Royce Plc, Surescreen Diagnostics LTD and Aluminium Bending Specialist to name a few of the first time exhibitors. The event also saw great support from local businesses such as Care4Notts, Ashfield Citizens Advice, West Notts College, Peter Smith Transport Training and Boneham & Turner, offering support for those wanting to gain new skills and start a new career journey.

Chief Executive of Ashfield District Council, Theresa Hodgkinson said:

“A huge thank you to all the businesses and organisations who supported the event and we hope to see you again next year. The range of career opportunities on offer was truly awe inspiring and I hope people managed to come away from the event having had some positive conversations.  The Council would like to thank everyone who took part and also to the main event sponsor Kinver Solutions and supporting sponsor Van Elle.”

Ashfield District Council’s Executive Director of Place, John Bennett said:

“Being new in post, the Carers Fair has been a fantastic introduction to Ashfield and allowed me to experience what Ashfield has to offer and to meet some of the local community. The Careers Fair is a fantastic opportunity to meet potential employers and find out about training opportunities. It’s part of Ashfield Council’s strategic goal to provide opportunities for improving skills, employment and training opportunities in the area.”

Ashfield District Council is committed to supporting employment and training in the District and will continue to champion Ashfield as the place to be for businesses and transformation. This also includes supporting residents to meet the skills needed as technologies advance and change as we move into the future together.
