The Old Meeting House, in the heart of Mansfield is the home of the Unitarians and Free Christians of Mansfield and Ashfield, established in 1666 and still going strong in celebrating life, growing community, and open to all.
The chapel was built in 1702 and is the oldest Non-Conformist Place of Worship in Nottinghamshire, with oak panelling, William Morris Stained Glass Windows, a Parliament Clock, a Green Man among other interesting features. The chapel and schoolroom of the OMH are surrounded by a Peaceful Garden with a War Memorial designed by A.S. Buxton.
The Old Meeting House offers a variety of programmes throughout the week: Stay and Play for under 5`s on Tuesday mornings; Friday`s Friendly Space, 2-4 pm with arts, crafts and games; Saturday Coffee Mornings on previously announced dates and many one-off events. The chapel is open for viewing and private prayer on Saturdays, 10:30 am- noon and there is a service of Worship every Sunday at 11 am – in person and on zoom.
This year the chapel was elected to feature in the 30 Year Anniversary Gallery of the Heritage Open Days – a big honour for OMH and Mansfield.
